This specimen was lot 43926 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Ruble, 1876-CNB HI. NGC MS-62. A flashy Mint State representative with eye catching orange gold color." This type is listed for 1859-85 and is fairly common in circulated condition. In 1886, the standard was revised to match the French twenty francs d'or, resulting in a weight reduction to .186 troy oz.
