This specimen was lot 1081 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$222 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Elizabeth, 1741-1761, 5 Kopecks 1760, Ekaterinburg Mint. Fast vorzüglich, Leicht korrodiert, About Extremely Fine. Slightly corroded."
This type was struck 1759-62 in the Ekaterinburg mint for circulation in Russia during the reign of Elizabeth. Over a billion were issued for Catherine the Great between the Annensk, Moscow, Sestroretsk, Kolyvan, Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg mints. The mintage noted below consumed 1,325 metric tons of copper. Many survive today but few in choice condition. Russia has the distinction of being the first country to issue decimal currency, as 100 kopeks = one ruble.
