This specimen was lot 23519 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopeks, 1760-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Elizabeth (1741-61). PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Ideal for the grade with bright luster remaining visible beneath the light toned surfaces. Worthy of a premium bid." This type was struck 1756-61 at the St. Petersburg mint for Elizabeth I. In 1759, the production of copper five kopeks commenced and they were produced in enormous quantities. The next silver issue was in 1797, after the death of Catherine the Great.
