Russia 1758-SP NK ruble Dav-1681
This specimen was lot 1443 in Jean Elsen sale 144 (Brussels, March 2020), where it sold for €550 (about US$725 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSIE, Elisabeth (1741-1761), AR rouble, 1758HK, Saint-Pétersbourg. Portrait de T. Ivanov. D/ B. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Griffes. Très Beau. The coinage of Russia of the eighteenth century is a confusing and fascinating subject. This type, issued 1757-61 from St. Petersburg and 1754-58 from Moscow, is somewhat available. The assayers' initials stand for Nazar Kutuzov, who operated 1758-63.
Recorded mintage: 600,000 (all assayers).
Specification: 25.85 g, 0.802 fine silver, this specimen 25,86 g.
