from the Stack's Bowers 2019 NYINC sale, lot 43890

This specimen was lot 43890 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Denga, 1735. Anna (1730-40). PCGS MS-62 BN Gold Shield. Crisp strike with pleasing dark chocolate patina." This type is recorded for 1730-54 and is noted as common along with the polushka (KM 187). The mintage is not known but it is priced lower than later dates with mintages over eighty million. The denomination is written ДЕНГА (denga). The one kopek was not struck at all during this period.
