Romania 2012 50 bani
In 2012 Romania issued a Commemorative coin dedicated to the voivode Neagoe Basarab. Neagoe was an enlightened Prince and patron of art and literature. Neagoe Basarab made many generous donations to the Orthodox monasteries in the Romanian and the Balkan countries. During his reign was built the Arges Monastery, around which was born a famous legend of "the Master Manole". Neagoe Basarab is also the author of one of the earliest masterpieces of European medieval literature, "the Neagoe teachings to his son Theodosius", written in Slavonic, and later translated in Romanian (a copy is attested in Romanian in 1654) On this coin front behind the values of 50 bani, and the state emblem is a sketch of of Curtea de Arges Monastery, seen from the front. On the coin back is the portrait of Neagoe Basarab and a drawing of the Curtea de Arges Monastery seen from profile.

Specifications: brass (80% copper, 15% zinc, 5% nickel), 6.1 g, 23.75 mm diameter, 1.9 mm thick, edge lettered "ROMANIA * ROMANIA *" twice.
