Romania 1946 25000 lei rev DSLR.jpg

This type is one of the last silver coins made in Romania, struck as the Red Army consolidated Communist rule in Romania. This commemorative celebrated the peace which, alas, did not end Romanian misery as the occupiers stole everything that the Nazis had not taken. It accompanied a larger 100,000 lei (KM 71).

Recorded Mintage: 2,372,000.

Specification: 12.5 g, .700 fine silver, 32 mm diameter, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: KM 70.
