This specimen was lot 1393 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $117.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ROMANIA: Carol I, prince, 1866-1881, AE 10 bani, 1867-HEATON, Heaton mint specimen strike, NGC graded MS65 RB." This type was struck at Heaton (shown here) and Watt & Co. in 1867. So many were made that no more were struck for circulation until 1900.
Recorded mintage: 12,500,000 plus 12,500,000 of KM 4.2 (WATT & Co.).
