This specimen was lot 47665 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rohilkhand. Rupee, AH 1198 Year 25 (1783/4). Najibabad Mint. In the name [of] Shah Alam II. NGC MS-63." Rohilkhand was a state in northern Hindustan carved out of the crumbling Mughal Empire by a dynasty of Afghan chiefs. Dehli lay to the west and Rohilkhand's chief rival, Awadh, lay to the southeast. Faizullah Khan was nawab when this coin was issued. This coin is dated year 23, not year 25, and we have attributed it to KM 96.2, which is listed for years 5 thru 12.
