This specimen was lot 73172 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Livonia. 3 Groschen (Trojak), 1592. Riga Mint. Sigismund III. NGC AU-55. Soft luster stretches across steel gray surfaces while dove gray patina has developed near the rims. A nicely struck piece overall with ample detail for the issue. Undoubtedly set to strengthen the next collection it enters." Riga was long the capital of Latvia. Riga joined Poland in 1582 but fell to the Swedish in 1629.
