This specimen was lot 36484 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "REUNION. Franc, 1896. PCGS MS-63." Reunion is an island in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Mauritius and is a longtime French colony. This copper-nickel franc, which is technically a token, was accompanied by a 50 centimes. It was the last issue for the island until 1948.
