Regensburg 1782-GCB 1/2 thaler KM-445
This specimen was lot 42304 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Regensburg. 1/2 Taler, 1782-GCB. Regensburg Mint. NGC MS-64. An EXTREMELY RARE deviation from the normal design, this specimen bears the civic arms and a radiant Eye of Providence on the reverse instead of the typical city view, and is listed as a mule in the Standard Catalogue of World Coins (KM). Featuring wholesome slate-gray surfaces and watery semi-prooflike fields that indicate freshly polished dies, this stunner is wholly unlikely to be matched in the future, and presents an incredibly elusive and important opportunity as such."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-445; Beckenbauer-7207 (this coin cited).
