This specimen was lot 2052 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €500 (about US$633 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PRUSSE, Wilhelm Ier (1861-1888), AV 20 Mark, 1886 A. Très Beau. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-1888, gold twenty mark of 1886. Very fine.)"
The type was struck 1874-88 at Berlin (mintmark A), Hannover (B) and Frankfurt (C) in large quantities. This date has a low mintage but does not obtain a premium.
Recorded mintage: 175,977, a common date.
Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, lettered edge.
