Künker sale 386, lot 6189

This specimen was lot 6189 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,034 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, PREUSSEN, Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. 20 Mark 1872, A. Erstabschlag, winz. Kratzer, fast Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-88, twenty mark of 1872. First strike, minor scratch, about uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1871-73 only but in such numbers that it is one of the most common twenty mark.

Recorded mintage: 7,717,623, a common date.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge.
