The specimen shown is an example of a type struck for Portugal since 2002. Portugal began minting euros in 2002, when their use became compulsory. The admission of additional members caused the reverse of the large denominations to be redesigned in 2007 to show the enlarged zone.

Recorded mintage: 30,000,000 plus 4,500 proofs.

Specification: 3.03 g., Copper-Plated-Steel, 18.75 mm diameter.
