The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal: Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1696 MS62 NGC, Lisbon mint. The second highest certified specimen of this type by NGC, an issue scarcely ever seen in Mint State let alone near choice. Perfectly struck with abundant red-brown patina at the peripheries, a rare high-tier gold offering with significant aesthetic appeal." Catalog reference: Fr-76, KM 156.
