This specimen was lot 4139 in Goldberg sale 41 (Beverly Hills, May 2007), where it sold for $44,850. The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal. Morabitino (180 Dinheiros), ND. Mint: Coimbra. The Afonsine Dynasty, 1128-1383. Sancho I, 1185-1211. Obv: Ruler on horse with sword and shield. Leg: SANCIVS REX PORTVGAIIS Reverse: Cross of five shields with a star in each angle. Leg: +IN NE PTRIS I FILII SPS SCIA. Superb example of the first gold coin of Portugal. Very Rare. NGC graded AU-50. This is one of the great rarities of this collection. The first gold coin of Portugal. An extremely important offering."
