Pomerania 1718 ducat Fr-2122
This specimen was lot 2071 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"POMMERN, HERZOGTUM UNTER SCHWEDEN, Karl XII. 1697-1718. Dukat 1718, Münzstätte wahrscheinlich Stettin, auf seinen Tod. GOLD. R Kl. Probierspur am Rand, Vorzüglich +. (Germany, duchy of Pomerania, under Swedish rule, Charles XII, 1697-1718, ducat of 1718, probably Stettin mint, on the death of the king. Rare, test mark on edge, extremely fine or better.)"
Pomerania was ceded to Sweden by the treaty of Westphalia in 1648 and was held by them until lost in the Great Northern War in 1718. Charles XII won every battle against Peter the Great of Russia, except the last one, a disaster for Sweden. The last fragment of Swedish Pomerania was ceded to Prussia in 1815.
