This specimen was lot 73666 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Pomerania. Schilling, "92" (1492). Damm Mint. Bogislaus X. NGC EF-45. Obverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross pattee; date (92) at end of legend; Reverse: Stylized griffin rampant. Lightly toned and quite clear throughout, and an overall excellent early dated issue from a pivotal year in the New World. incorrectly noted on the holder as [Levinson-I-]288B, in which the '2' in the date would be retrograde." Bogislaw X (1454-1523) was duke of Pomerania-Barth (from 1474), Pomerania-Wolgast and Pomerania-Stettin (from 1478), successfully uniting the splinters for the first time in several centuries. The ruling dynasty, which fell extinct in 1637, called itself the Griffins after the device on the reverse. In 1531, Pomerania would be divided once again. This is a very early dated coin.
