Nomisma Aste e-live-auction 3, lot 51

This specimen was lot 51 in Nomisma Aste e-live-auction 3 (Verona, Italy, May 2023), where it sold for 20 euro (about US$26 including buyer's fees). The lot description noted, "POLONIA 20 Zlotych 2004 - In contenitore di plastica. - PROOF. (Poland, twenty zlotych of 2004, in plastic capsule, proof.)" This NCLT honors the harbor porpoise (Phocoena phocoena), a common sight in the Baltic Sea. Other issues of this denomination in 2004 included Y498 (Lodz ghetto), Y504 (Polish senate), Y508 (Harvest fest parade) and Y513 (Stanislaw Wyspiansk).

Recorded mintage: 56,000.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.6 mm diameter (same module as an old British crown).
