This specimen was lot 21371 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 500 Zlotych, 1976-MW. NGC PROOF-67 ULTRA CAMEO. Head of Kazimierz Pulaski facing left. Mintage of only 2,315 pieces. Hard mirror fields with frosted cameo devices. From the Vincent Alones Collection." The populace having long lost interest in alleged heroes of the socialist revolution, the regime went back in time to honor Kazimierz Pulaski (1745-79), who fought and died in the American war of independence.
