This specimen was lot 443 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,079 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas I. 1825-1855, 1 Grosz Polski 1828, Warsaw Mint, FN. About extremely fine." Despite Russian promises of autonomy, the czar found the Poles to be the most obstreperous of all his subjects. Major rebellions occurred in 1831 and 1863. This type was struck 1828-35. This is listed very cheaply in the SCWC; this example realized 22 times the catalog value in Extremely Fine.
