Sincona sale 94, lot 2175

This specimen was lot 2175 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 6,000 CHF (about US$8,316 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN Wladislaw IV. 1632-1648. Taler 1635 I-I, Bromberg. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Poland, Ladislaus IV, 1632-48, thaler of 1635, Bromberg mint. Very rare in this condition, Extremely Fine.)"

The SCWC records this type for 1633-40 and, while not common, as among the more available Polish thalers. Wladyslaw IV, a member of the Swedish Wasa family, ruled Poland 1633-48. The initials "II" stand for Jacob Jacobsen of Emden.
