Sincona sale 63, lot 1450

This specimen was lot 1450 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$282 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN, Sigismund III. 1587-1632. 3 Groschen 1601, Krakau. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Poland, Sigismund III. 1587-1632, three groschen of 1601, Cracow mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1601-08 and 1614 and is common. Earlier dates probably exist. Moneyers K, FI, P, F, B and L are listed for this date. A scarce variety (KM A6) exists with the king's bust facing right.
