Piacenza 1607-PP quadrupla Fr-907
This specimen was lot 1761 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$6,059 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIE, PIACENZA, Ranuccio I Farnese (1592-1622), AV quadrupla (2 doppie), 1607 PP. D/ B. cuir. à g. R/ PLACENTIA FLORET Une louve deb. à g. devant un buisson, sous une couronne. Éclat du flan sur la tranche. Rare dans cette qualité. Superbe. (Italy, duchy of Piacenza, Ranuccio I Farnese, 1592-1622, gold quadruple or two doppie of 1607. Obverse: reverse: Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1599-1622. Another quadrupla struck 1612-13 (Fr-905) shows the wind blowing clouds.
