This specimen was lot 1456 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PHILIPPINES. 1,500 Piso, 1980. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Fr-unlisted; KM-unlisted. Very scarce, not listed in Friedberg or KM. Tied with only one other for finest certified. Struck to commemorate the visit of Pope John Paul II which was postponed. Subsequently this type was reissued with the date 1981."
