Peru 1935 centavo

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This specimen is a later date of a series of bronze centavos issue in Peru 1901-49. Numerous varieties exist, depending on the spacing and size of the legends. This "straight centavo" is considerably scarcer than the "curved centavo" type (KM 208.2) also recorded for 1935. In 1950, the coin was changed to zinc.

Recorded mintage: 1,105,000 (including KM 208.2).

Specification: 5 g, bronze, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.
