This specimen was lot 72316 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 1/2 Sol, 1924-GM. Lima Mint. NGC MS-63. Providing a handsome Choice nature, this beauty demonstrates a mostly argent color and sharply applied details." This type was struck in billon 1922-29 and 1935. The 1924 is the lowest mintage date but the 1922 is considered the key. Its replacement (KM 220) was struck in brass during 1935 and 1941-65.
