This specimen was lot 1166 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, 1 libra, 1921, NGC MS 63, finest and only example in NGC census. Bullion trade coin (0.2355 oz AGW) in top grade known, with nice color and luster, minimal bagmarks." The second specimen was lot 25402 in Heritage sale 61487 (Dallas, TX, May 2025), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[2] noted, "Peru. Republic gold Libra 1921 MS63 NGC, Lima mint. Accompanied by the original collector envelope. From the Monedero Collection of Peru and Latin American Coins." The gold libra superseded the silver sol as Peru's main unit of currency in 1898. The libra weighed the same as a British sovereign and equalled ten soles. The type was struck until 1930 and again 1959-69, along with 1/5 libras and 1/2 libras.

Recorded mintage: 152,000 for 1920-21.
