Peru 1918 20 centavos

The twenty centavos denomination was originally occupied by the silver quinto, struck 1888-1917. It was superseded by a copper-nickel coin in 1918, which was replaced by a brass type in 1942 when World War Two drove up the price of nickel. This sub-type, issued 1918-20 and 1926, features a thick planchet and a spelled-out date. This date, a product of the London mint, is common. Similar five and ten centavos exist.

Specification: 7 g, copper-nickel, 24 mm diameter.
