This specimen was lot 3865 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU: Republic, AV 1/5 libra, 1911, initials GOZG, NGC graded MS61." The gold libra superseded the silver sol as Peru's main unit of currency in 1898. The libra weighed the same as a British sovereign and equalled ten soles. This little type was struck until 1906-30 and 1953-69, along with full libras and half libras.

Recorded Mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 1.60 g, 0.917 fine gold, AGW 0.0471 oz.
