This specimen was lot 23101 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $129.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Sol, 1890-TF. NGC MS-62. Type XI." The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1885-87 at the Lima mint for Peru. There are many varieties and subtypes of this basic design and later issues were emitted 1888-97 and 1914-16. This date is common altho an 1890/80 overdate obtains a premium.
Recorded mintage: 2,304,000.
Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.7234 troy oz ASW.
