The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1888-92 at the Lima mint for Peru. There are many varieties and subtypes of this basic design and later issues were emitted 1893-97 and 1914-16. This date is common. Assayer TF is recorded for 1886-96. For 1889 there is a variety with inverted "V" for "A" in "LA."

Recorded mintage: 2,842,000 (all varieties).

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.7234 troy oz ASW.
