This one dinero, was struck 1886 in Cuzco, Peru, and is uncommon. The first specimen has a slight clip. This coin, a half dinero dated 1885 and a quinto del sol from Arequipa are the only branch mint issues of the decimal period. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-64 (KM 189). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel five centavos. The second specimen was lot 2091 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $205.70. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Republic. 1821-present. AR Dinero. Cuzco mint. Dated 1886 JM. In NGC encapsulation graded AU 55. Choice faintly toned AU. A rare coin in any grade. Well struck for this Cuzco issue."

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.0723 ASW, the second specimen is Ø18 mm, 2.51 g, 6h axis.
