The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1864-76 at the Lima mint. There are many varieties and subtypes of this basic design and later issues were emitted 1879-97 and 1914-16. The mintage of this date is not recorded but later issues were in the millions. There is another assayer, LD, recorded for 1873.
Recorded mintage: unknown; slightly scarce compared to 1872 or 1874.
Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .7234 troy oz ASW.
