This specimen was lot 956 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 1/2 Escudo, 1816-JP. RARE type. Nice strike. NGC AU-58." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available, the smaller gold denominations are all very scarce.
