The first specimen was lot 1357 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, pillar 2 reales, Charles III, 1763 JM, mintmark without MA ligature, very rare, ex-O'Brien. Deeply toned Fine, a bit weakly struck on crown above globes but no damage within the grade, rated R3 in Yonaka. Pedigreed to the John O'Brien Collection, with his tag." The second specimen was lot 1358 in the same sale, where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, pillar 2 reales, Charles III, 1763 JM, mintmark with MA ligature, extremely rare, ex-O'Brien, ex-Fleming. Bold but harshly cleaned XF+ with old scratches, toning in letters, rated R4 in Yonaka with just one example observed that is not the same coin as this lot. Pedigreed to the John O'Brien Collection, with his tag, and to the Fleming Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of November 2020, lot 1304)." This type was struck for Charles III 1760-72. It is not rare but many of the dates are very scarce compared to their Mexican equivalents.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.917 fine silver, the first specimen 6.40 grams, the second specimen 6.59 grams.

Catalog reference: Cayón-11471, Yonaka-L2.63a; Cal-573; KM-62.
