This specimen was lot 2602 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "PARTABGARH: Dulep Singh, 1825-1864, AR square nazarana rupee, Deogarh, AH1236 year 45 (frozen), excellent VF, ex Paul Stevens Collection." Partabgarh (modern spelling Pratapgarh) was in south Rajputana, neighboring Jaora, Sailana, Tonk and Mewar. Wikipedia comments, "Maharawat Dalpat Singh was regent of Dungarpur from 1825 to 1852 and the Sisodia Rajput ruler of Pratapgarh from the year 1844 until his death in 1864." Altho dated AH 1236 (1820), this rupee was actually struck c. 1825-58. The state was annexed to India in 1947.
