Sincona sale 23, lot 2846

This specimen was lot 2846 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,068 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN, Parma, Odoardo Farnese, 1622-1646 Scudo 1628. Gutes sehr schön. (duchy of Parma, Edward Farnese (1622-46), scudo of 1628, good very fine.)"

This scarce scudo is noted for 1626-29. The light weight suggests that this coin may have been clipped. The duchy of Piacenza was united with the duchy of Parma in the eighteenth century.
