Parma 1603-LS ducatone Dav-4115
This specimen was lot 655 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 2,500 CHF (about US$3,810 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Parma. Ranuccio I. Farnese, 1592-1622. Ducatone 160(?), Parma. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Prägeschwäche. (Italy, duchy of Parma, Ranuccio Farnese, 1592-1622, ducaton, circa 1603. Very rare, About Extremely Fine, Weakly struck.)"
This type was struck 1603-07, 1614-17 and 1624. It is listed in the SCWC using the Davenport number. Ranuccio served his father Alessandro for many years as regent before succeeding to his titles in 1592. Many of Alessandro's coins continued to be struck into Ranuccio's reign.
