This specimen was lot 1585 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$757 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | Parma. Ranuccio Farnese I. 1592-1622. Ongaro (nach ungarischem Vorbild) 1602. Sehr schön. Leicht gewellt. (duchy of Parma, Ranuccio Farnese I, 1592-1622, gold ducat in the Hungarian style, 1602. Very fine, Slightly wavy flan.)"
This type was struck 1602-03 and is rare. Ironically, tho the ducat is an Italian coin, so many goldgulden were coming out of Hungary in the fifteenth century that the coin acquired the nickname "ongaro".
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.49 g.
