CNG Lissner collection, lot 2015

This specimen was lot 2015 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $96.80. The catalog description[1] noted, "PARAGUAY, Republic. 1811-pres. Specimen CU-NI 10 Pesos. Buenos Aires mint. Dated 1939. In NGC encapsulation graded SP 65. Gem Proof with a hint of violet iridescent toning. One year only type. Unlisted as a specimen in KM. Purchased from M. Louis Teller 2006." The peso was dropped in favor of the guarani in 1944.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.

Specification: copper-nickel, 28.5 mm diameter, this specimen Ø28 mm, 8.01 g, 6h axis.
