Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 565

This specimen was lot 565 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €85 (about US$108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Siège vacant (1559), (Camerlengo Card. Guido Ascanio Sforza), AR giulio, 1559. D/ Armoiries du cardinal camerlingue. R/ Saint Paul deb. de f., ten. une épée. Rare Petite trace de monture. Beau à Très Beau. (Italy, Pontifical State, sede vacante, silver giulio of 1559. Obverse: arms of the camerlengo; reverse: St. Paul standing, bearing a sword. Rare, trace of mounting, fine to very fine.)"

This is one of two giulii issued during the sede vacante between the death of Paul IV and the election of Pius IV.
