This date is listed in the SCWC for 1733-34. It is the most available mezza piastra of the eighteenth century. The mezza piastra was 52½ baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone). The denomination was last minted in 1742 and superseded by the mezzo scudo in 1753. The second specimen was lot 1690 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Clement XII, 1730-1740, AR ½ piastra, year IV (1733), two-year type, well-struck on oval flan, EF."
