Stack's Bowers 2025 ANA sale, lot 47156
SB825-47156r.jpg

This specimen was lot 47156 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). Carlino, ND (1500-1600). Bologna Mint. Anonymous Type. NGC MS-63." This coin is attributed to Adrian VI by Numista. Another carlino, Ber-761, is similar but with the arms of Cardinal Cybo. Four members of the Cybo were made cardinals but Innocenzo Cybo (1491-1550) is the most likely suspect. One testone was four carlini.

Recorded Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.04 g, 0.916 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, this specimen 2.07 g.

Catalog reference: Berman-762.
