Künker sale 403, lot 1278

This specimen was lot 1278 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €480 (about US$630 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PAPST PAUL II., 1464-1471. Die Münzstätte Rom. Grosso o. J., Rom. Mit Münzzeichen Rose (Pier Paolo della Zecca) auf der Vorderseite. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Papal States, Paul II, 1464-71, undated grosso, Rome mint, with a rose privy mark on the obverse. Handsome patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This is one of four different grossi for Paul II. SS. Paul and Peter are depicted on the reverse.
