Sedwick Treasure Auction 38, lot 1169
Sedwick 38-1169r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1169 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "PANAMA, bi-metallic pattern 2 balboas, 2011, very rare, ANACS MS 64. Bright and lustrous, with faint spotting on the nickel brass-plated steel ring and faint hairlines on the nickel-plated steel interior, otherwise lacking any wear or marks. While bimetallic 2 balboas like this one were anticipated in 2011, their circulation was canceled for unknown reasons, and sources indicate that only a few dozen samples like this one exist (not noted as a pattern or trial on the label)." A bimetallic one balboa was issued in 2011 (KM 141.1) and struck again in 2017-19 (KM 141.2). The one balboa was a product of the Winnipeg mint; we presume this trial piece was made there as well.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.5 g, nickel plated steel center in nickel brass plated steel ring, 28 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-unlisted.
