This type was struck 1961-62 only, probably at the Philadelphia mint. It matches the module of the United States silver half dollar in every respect. The next issue, in 1966, was in billon (40% silver).

Recorded mintage: 700,000 + 25 proofs.

Specification: 12.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 30.6 mm diameter.
