Palau 2020 10 dollars KM-859
This specimen was lot 33511 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "PALAU. 10 Dollars, 2020. PCGS PROOF-70 Deep Cameo. Eternal Sculptures series: Three Graces. Presenting a front and back view of the famous sculpture, this enchanting specimen features a bit of a marbled appearance to the central devices." The edition of the SCWC in our possession does not list this issue so we take the auctioneer's attribution on faith.
Palau is a Pacific island nation with a population of about 18,000. First annexed by Spain in 1885, it passed to Germany (1899), Japan (1919) and the United States (1947) before obtaining partial independence in 1994. As the US dollar is used on the islands, Palauan coins are all NCLT's.
