Paderborn 1723-AGP thaler Dav-2513
This specimen was lot 2251 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Paderborn, Bistum, Clemens August von Bayern, 1719-1761. Taler 1723, Münster. Mit der Signatur .A.G.P. (Münzmeister Anton Gottfried Pott). Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Feine Patina. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. (Germany, bishopric of Paderborn, Clemens August of Bavaria, 1719-61, thaler of 1723, Munster mint, with initials AGP. Very rare, About extremely fine, Nice patina, Minor flan flaw."
The bishop of Paderborn was suffragan to the bishop of Münster but still managed to issue a few coins for his domain. Clemens August was also archbishop of Cologne and bishop of Liege.
